Publican @ 837 W. Fulton Market

After a wedding near the Indiana Dunes, we made a ten thirty stop at The Publican. Dining here after the crowd dies down, seems more my speed as it was louder than I would have preferred. I’m sounding cranky now. Hey! It was definitely late at night and our main food entree was quite delayed (see reason below)… but, that didn’t stop us from wanting to come back again. We learned that it’s better (and probably healthier) to share the gigantic entree portions. Next time, we’ll have to dine as a table of four.

We had: complimentary bread, full charcuterie plate ($24 — the morteau sausage was perfection); frites with organic eggs ($5 — nothing too special); beets with burrata and balsamic ($7 — sadly the beets were not very firm); and a ham chop “in hay” ($42 — a Thanksgiving dream. The first order was accidentally given to another table. The punks hadn’t even ordered it. But, they managed to eat it). Due to the error, we were given a side of the daily pickles and one beer pairing… and those were mighty tasty.
