Stacey + Hilary tied the most sparkly, festive knot on New Year’s Eve wedding in Champaign, Illinois at the restored Orpheum. Add human characteristics to a disco ball, and you would be talking about the epitome of these two as a power couple in our art community. Also, when another photographer with whom you have admiration asks you to be her photographer, you can’t help but feel fully honored.

Additionally, the mark of a new year signifies new beginnings, fresh possibilities, and the promise of change. Surrounded by laughter and the support of their community, Hilary and Stacey were one of the first to ever have a private wedding ceremony held inside of the most tranquil space in Champaign, the University of Illinois Japan House. Plus, Jennifer Gunji-Ballsrud, the Japan House’s director + their very best friend, presided over their ceremony.

Overall, as I look back on Hilary and Stacey’s wedding day, I am filled with gratitude. Also, the opportunity to witness and document such a beautiful celebration of love and the longevity of friends is an honor. Plus, theirs is a story of colorful fun, resilience, and the unwavering support of their mutually shared community.
